e-2530 Tips
-
Choose a password that ends in a number.
(The system periodically requires Users to change their password.
Simply increase the number each time and you will more easily remember.)
-
After you have activated yourself as a User or Coordinator, do not forget to assign yourself Roles and Rights.
(This frequently overlooked step prevents you from having the access needed to do your job.)
-
If you get a recording when you call the HUD Help Desk, leave a detailed message which includes your User ID - also known as an "M" number.
(If you don't hear from them within 24 hours - sometimes things get lost in this great electronic age - call them back the next day.)
-
Do not share your log-in information with anyone.
(Your User ID and Password are attached to your Social Security number.)
-
Log into the system at least once a month to keep your User ID active.
(Your User ID will be automatically deactivated if not used for 90 days.)
-
Do not submit requests for Activation Key Code letters on Fridays.
(There are more waylaid Key Code letters from Friday requests than any other day of the week - don't know why, but it's true.)
-
If you have not received an Activation Key Code letter within 7-10 business days of your request, do not wait, call for a resend.
(Be sure you call the REAC Help Desk 1-888-245-4860, as missing Key Code letters are not handled by the HUD Help Desk.)
-
Before an APPS submission, remember to go into each property on your list to update inspection dates and ratings and to add any new participation.
(Remember you must electronically "accept" each new REAC score or they will not appear on your previous participation submission.)
-
Don't forget to "Certify" each entity and each participant before sending an electronic submission to HUD.
(This is the most common mistake made when submitting an e-2530.)
-
Take the time to get set up in the Secure System today.
(HUD Project Managers prefer properly submitted e-2530's over paper submissions, as they can save both time and headaches when reviewing a project for approval.)
